Requirements

Thank you for your support of Our Houston. This is a platform developed to be an educational resource, calendar and database for stronger communication and collaboration within the African-American community. The events calendar features a consolidated listing of public-oriented events and dates of interest to Black community members throughout Houston.

To submit an event for consideration, complete the online form. For more information email info@ourhouston.org. Approved events are posted to the calendar within 1 week after receipt.

Acceptable submissions include events open to the public, must serve the African-American community and must promote one of the following areas of focus:

  • Arts + Entertainment
  • Education
  • Economic Empowerment
  • Faith Based Programs and Institutions
  • Health + Wellness Awareness
  • Historic Monuments
  • Non-profit Organizations
  • Professional Organizations
  • Youth Development

Events that can be promoted:

  • Annual events
  • Public lectures + town hall meetings
  • Galas
  • Conferences
  • Forums
  • Fundraising events
  • Networking focused social events

Events that cannot be promoted:

  • Any event in conflict with Our Houston policy or that advocates or promotes illegal activities
  • Personal or private events
  • Membership or chapter meetings
  • Promotional business efforts or for profit events
  • Politically focused events
